Everyone wants to get more followers on Pinterest. If you weren’t concerned with the size of your following, you probably wouldn’t bother with Pinterest for your business in the first place. So how does a busy person like yourself leverage the magic of Pinterest without spending all day pinning? Here are three easy steps to growing a happy and healthy following on Pinterest for your business.
1. Find other pinners with similar interests – It’s easy to find other pinners with similar interests to you. Simply use the ‘search’ function and type in your keywords, and bam! You’ll find endless amounts of fellow pinners with your same interests. You can also sign up to receive email notifications from Pinterest that will suggest new pins, people, and boards for you to follow. You’ll receive emails with content that is curated specifically for you based on the people you are following and the pins that you’re pinning. It’s a great feature to take advantage of!
2. Follow them and repin their pins – Everyone LOVES to see that someone else ‘liked’ or ‘saved’ their pins! It’s such a thrill to see your pins being published on other people’s boards! In fact, this is the single greatest way to attract followers, so get busy pinning! It’s also a nice idea to leave comments or send private messages to those pinners and boards particularly impress you.
3. Join community boards with a lot of followers with similar interests – For example, I have a community board I created years ago called ‘The Interior Design Community Board.’ I have 12,000 followers and 364 contributors. The power of these boards is this; as a contributor you can pin to this board and your pin goes into the feed of all 12,000 followers! This results in way more ‘likes’ and ‘saves,’ as well as clicks through to your website! Hence, driving traffic to your website for conversions happens at a much greater rate than it might on your business’s regular boards. It’s great to join community boards that are already well established, but it’s also worth your time to create a few community boards of your own, and invite lots of likeminded folks to be contributors! Do remember that it’s a matter of both quantity AND quality of contributors if you create a community board, as you only want pinners who will pin great content, in order to grow the board’s following.
With these three simple steps, time, and persistence, it won’t be long until you see your Pinterest following grow by leaps and bounds! With this growth, you will then experience an increase in traffic to your website, which will lead to more business! Have patience with the process and it WILL pay off. Remember, it takes time to build a following on any social media platform… There are no overnight solutions. However, there are always ways to either help or hinder your cause. Do what you can to help the process along, and you’ll find that your efforts will pay off!
