As a business owner, I know that your time is at a premium, and we both know that time is money. You also know that in order to reach as many customers as possible, you’ve got to have a great social media marketing plan. Therefore, a key component of your social media marketing should be utilizing a social media management tool that will help keep your marketing efforts organized across all platforms, and will automate as much of the process as possible in order to make the most of your time. While it’s true that running a good social media campaign is always going to take a significant amount of time, you don’t have to let it take over your entire life! Here’s how the pros keep on top of it all without losing their minds!

There are a few of things that you should know about the automation and scheduling tools currently available.

1. Out of everything that’s currently on the market, in truth, there are only four services that you need to consider. Perhaps this will change in the near future, but as of now, that’s all there is, and it’s plenty! These services are extremely reliable, and they all perform beautifully. These services are Hootsuite, Buffer, Sendible, and IFTTT.

2. You don’t need all of these services. While there are some differences between Hootsuite, Buffer, and Sendible, they all perform similar services, and which you’ll choose is largely a matter of preference. It’s a good idea to take advantage of the free trial periods and acquaint yourself with each of them in order to figure out which one is your favorite. Last, IFTTT (If This Then That) is a different animal, and since it’s free, you should definitely sign up immediately!

The functions of Hootsuite, Buffer, and Sendible include the ability to schedule posts by uploading articles, ads, photos, and tweets in batches ahead of time, and letting the automated service post it on the date and time of your choosing. There are also some individual functions you may prefer in each of the programs.

Price points may also be a factor. Hootsuite’s pricing starts at $9.99 a month and goes up to $99.99 a month, depending on the number of users and social profiles. Buffer’s pricing ranges from $10-399 a month, with pricing based on a number of factors, including the number of social media profiles you can manage per platform, the number of scheduled posts you can have at a time, and the number of team members you can have using the program. Sendible’s pricing range is $59-499, based on the number of team members, number of branded reports, and other premium features that will be made available to you.

IFTTT will appear at a glance to be more of a personal tool than a work tool. After all, it brags about such features as being about to hit brew on your coffee pot from bed, adjust your heat and turn on lights and heat while you’re away from home, monitor your workouts, eBay, Craigslist, and look for price drops for items online. But if you’re a small business owner, you already know that your work life and your home life are intertwined! Make one of them run smoother, and the other one benefits! Beyond that, you’ll find lots of features that may benefit your business directly. This incredible service allows you to integrate over 370 apps! You can manage your Google calendar, sync across clouds, Slack team reminders… the list goes on. Just get it and see.

Becoming proficient with one or more of the automation and scheduling tools mentioned above will benefit your business in innumerable ways. No business can run smoothly without effective time management, and once you start using these tools, you’ll wonder how you ever managed without them!
